Is there such a thing as too many books....

Impossible! Which is why I love The Book Depository! I adore purchasing online... what could be easier and with FREE DELIVERY... well, what more incentive does one require??? And, after purchasing your selection... watch others spend large. Fascinating stuff....
PS Another awesome sight to spend and they give back is Good Books.

Yes, my voyeurism is a concern. And on that note... Twitter!
Knowing what others are up to is serioulsy addictive... status updates were always my favourite on FB too. But I do have to wonder what possesses someone to pretend they are a famous celebrity. Like seriously, there are a few celebs I would love to be too...but c'mon, surely your life isn't that sad that you have to pretend to be somone else.
Amazing......!
And even more amazing is how these frauds defend who they are. Things like @Famous_Person is a fraud.... I'm the real deal!
Well, if you are the real deal, do what you need to do to sort it out... one comment to one journalist and you are authentic.
Get your own life losers.... or follow the real deal on Twitter and live vicarioulsy... either way, be who you are and proud of it!

Went and saw Angels&Demons last night ... yeah, it was ok! At least Tom Hanks has grown on me a bit more. Still think that they could have gone with someone else though...
(Sorry Tom, you serioulsy rocked Forrest Gump... but Robert Langdon... not so sure!)

Book Club...
Just finished 'The Bastard of Istanbul' by Elif Shafak ... not sure why as beautifully written but I didn't enjoy. Had to force myself to read it in time for book club meeting. Stil have a few pages to go... all seems to happen in last 3 chapters.
Next book: The Reader!

Gossip...
Sad about Katie and Andre...
Cannes... what fun! Peaches sure leads a charmed life
R & K... I'm still wondering....

Kiss kiss love love xx

All in good time I know...

But holy hell... this book is taking long to write!
Hardly had a spare minute to write this weekend what with the writers festival (enjoyed Sarah-Kate Lynch and Nicky Pellegrino... gives me hope that I to can do this), the Art Museum (Yinka Shonibare... very interesting, particularly liked Reverend on Ice 2005) and a full on baby shower... no time for ME, ME, ME!

Enjoying Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott... great stuff for a new writer riddled by self-doubt... apparently that never changes so at least I have that down pat.

Trying to get the hang of Twitter too (signed up at last).... gees, language of its own... just got FB figured out! Mmmmm, interesting... don't have any friends on it (that I know off ... might have to do that invite thingy through FB and email... agggg!) so have been 'forced' to follow celebs I like... very voyeuristic really! But sweet, nice to hear it from them rather than a distorted version through the media.

Ok, off to watch 8Mile... instead of write! Naughty, naughty...

What does a post(wo)man do with his bike at the end of the day?

He takes it home of course!

I know... I never thought about it either but today I had to pick up my (Strawberrynet) package at a NZ Post depot and there were all these cars, at least 50 of them, all lined up... with postie bikes on the back! It took me a minute to work it out and when I did... I was enthralled. It was the most comical sight to me. One of those things that won't quite change my life forever but that I really enjoyed realising. And apparently, they get all the gear supplied.
Ah bless!
Better than a warehouse of sad, hang dog little bikes, waiting for their masters to claim them.

And on packages... don't you adore receiving a package from Strawberrynet?
It is like a wee little gift to yourself. And I love how you can recognise the packaging, not matter where in the world you are. I saw a girl in New York carrying a package down the street from Strawberrynet and I had a little rush of recognition... I was almost tempted to high five her I was that excited.
Love, love, love Strawberrynet...
I bet you want to know what I got.... was low key this time, not the usual uncontrollable splurge that normally occurs (pat on the back for me for showing some restraint!).
Well, my little white package with lavender ribbon contained a smaller, silver package that revealed none other than the most kick arse mascara I have had the pleasure of experiencing in a VERY long time.... the stunnning, the amazing, the cannot live without LANCÔME Virtuôse ... OMG, IT ROCKS! Try it if you can... your world will be a better place.

Behind the times yet again...

But went and saw 'The Reader' last night and absolutely loved it...

I can't say that I had much interest in seeing it to be honest, I'm not a fan of war movies (particularly Nazi War movies - too upsetting) and although I love Kate Winslet's down to earth ways, I don't usually rush to see her movies either.

I just really felt like seeing a movie and 'The Reader' was the only option amongst some VERY slim pickings.

So, as it wasn't on my "Must See" list, I had NO EXPECTATION. And that is the key...no expectation, no disappointment. Very hard now days when a lot of the time, these movies are so super 'hyped' up and jammed down your throat but every media imaginable, it's hard not to have a preconceived idea.

But back to the movie at hand...I was mesmerized by it all. Kate definitely did an amazing job... I think that her Oscar was well deserved. But I was particularly impressed by David Kross, the young Michael Berg. Wow...blown away by his performance!

Don't get me wrong, this isn't light hearted viewing. It was heart rending in places and I blubbed...more than once. But overall I loved it and highly recommend it.

A favourite part for me was when the below passage out of Intrigue and Love/Love and Intrigue by Schiller was read...

'I'm not frightened. I'm not frightened of anything. The more suffering, the more I love. "Danger will only increase my love, it will sharpen it, it will give it spice. I'll be the only angel you need. You will leave life even more beautiful than you entered it. Heaven will take you back and look at you and say 'Only one thing can make a soul complete, and that thing is love.'
